Pilar González de Frutos

Pilar is the President of UNESPA, Spanish Insurance Business Association (2003 to present). She also chairs FIDES, Spanish-American Insurance Business Association. She is a member of the Consultative Insurance Board, of the CEOE board and Strategic Board of Insurance Europe. She is a member of the Executive Comitte of CEOE (Spanish business & patronal association).

Pilar has worked for the Insurance industry over 37 years, having hold very prominent positions in insurers supervision. She was General Manager of the Dirección General de Seguros y Fondos de Pensiones (DGSFP) from 1997 to 2002. DGSFP is the Spanish Insurance & Pensions regulator.

Jaime Velázquez

Jaime is Managing Partner of Clifford Chance since 2013. Being a State lawyer, Jaime joined Clifford Chance as a partner in 2005. He specializes in M&A transactions – both national and cross-border – and has extensive experience advising listed companies, including the IBEX 35, on corporate, commercial and restructuring issues, especially in regulated sectors such as financial, insurance, energy and telecommunications.

Previously, he has been the Legal Counsel for the Spanish Inland Revenue in Cataluña, Secretary of the Board of Directors and Legal Counsel for the State-owned Bank (ICO), Secretary of the Board of Directors of a private equity house (Axis S.G.E.C.R., S.A.) and General Secretary and Secretary of the Board of the Telecommunications Market Commission. Professor of M&A Law in the Law Degree of Universidad Pompeu Fabra since 2010.

Jorge Sanz Elorza

Jorge is the Managing Director of the insurance group El Corte Ingles, the major retailer in Spanish market. Jorge leads insurance activities in the group running the Life Insurer; el Corte Inglés Vida. He also leads the Group insurance distribution for Life and General Business and risk management of the group.

Being a lawyer and a economist Jorge has worked for Garrigues Law Firm for more tan 18 years, many of them as a partner. He specialised in financial services, Banks and insurers , M&A and venture capital. He was a lecturer at Carlos III University and wrote several books on insurance, pensions and finance.

Julián López Zaballos

Julián is a Economist by Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He is independent Director in a number of insurers of Aviva Group, member of the executive committee of Catalonian (IEAF) and member of the IGREA advisory board

After more than 38 years in management positions in the insurance industry he retired from Zurich Group early 2016. Julian was the CEO for the Zurich Spanish Group from for more than 10 years. He was also vicepresident of ZURICH Vida and President of Aide Asistencia and Deutche Zurich Pensiones as well as board director and member of the Audit Comite of the joint ventures Banco Sabadell y ZURICH. At an industry level he was a member of the Executive Committee of UNESPA (Spanish Business Insurance Association) and ICEA as well as President of the Catalonian Insurers association UCEAC-UNESPA.

Sonia Lecina López

Sonia has a degree in Law and a master in Public affairs. She is an insurance inspector at the DGSFP (Spanish Insurance & Pensions regulator) having been appointed surveyor inspector. As a lecturer she has an extensive teaching experience of over 15 years in different masters at ICEA, INESE, IEB (Stock Exchange Institute), FIDES y CNEPS. Her expertise and interest includes governance systems, compliance internal Audit, M&A, corporate development, insurance contract and insurance customer protection.

From 2004 to present she has been international advisor to a number of insurance regulators in Poland, Chile, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Chipre y Macedonia. She lead the Legal and M&A team and Customer Protection area of the la DGSFP. She is a registered auditor at ROAC since 2007.
