Laura was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a Doctorate in Financial Economics from the same university. Laura received an important award from The Fundación Caja Madrid for her doctoral thesis on investment management. Laura has been invited as visiting researcher by Bentley University (Boston, USA) and the University of Queensland (Brisbane, Australia) and has attended specialized courses at Harvard Business School.
Laura commenced her professional life in the financial and insurance industry in companies such as Bestinver SVB, GVC SVB and Norwich Union. Later, she continued her professional advancement in the IE Business School where, in addition to teaching on a range of programs such as the MBA, Executive MBA, LLM, PhD, DBA and MiM, she was Director of Research from 2001-2007.
Laura’s research has focused on the analysis and application of artificial intelligence techniques to the investment and risk management analysis, in addition to inquiry into advances in these techniques. Her work won public funding from the Spanish National Plans of R&D and the EU Framework Programs and has been published in influential international academic journals under peer review. Since 2008, Laura has also been a member of the jury conferring national awards for innovation in the field of insurance and sponsored by ICEA-ACCENTURE.
